    Veronique Merlin asked:

s often ask me to plan their European vacations, and more specifically, their vacation in Paris. Why me? Being a native of Paris I have the inside scoop as to cheap hotels, how to get special hotel deals and other cheap vacation tips. I can also tell you about travel weather and other useful information.

The first step consists of determining who exactly is coming on this trip, your destination, the length of the trip, and when do you plan on going.  Don’t forget the most important consideration- your budget. Believe me, a European tour with two year old toddlers is not the same as the same as a honeymoon or even a vacation in London with just your partner in life. Actually, traveling with a baby may be easier than traveling with a bored teenager. There are ways to get their cooperation however. Young people of all ages, including my 70 years old parents who enjoy “roughing it”, plan very economical European tours living in youth hotels.

The time of year makes a great deal of difference as well.  Summer and mid winter are the peak travel seasons, but those who are looking for resort deals along the Mediterranean shores or for ski resorts in the Alps might consider late spring or early autumn. Here retirees have a distinct advantage planning for travel in Europe, or any kind of travel for that matter, since they can be more flexible.

Talking about time and dates, one of the easiest ways to save money is simply to fly out and return in the middle of the week. Airlines are getting crafty though, and “week-end” can mean Thursday to Monday! That leaves Tuesday and Wednesday as mid-week days.
Still, if you do fly out on one of those days, it can save you a couple hundred dollars.

Alright, so you’ve decided on your budget, the number of people in your party, the length of stay and when you want to go. Here are a couple of scenarios.

First, let’s take a family of four - Mother, Father, 12 year old and 5 year old.  This is their first time so they don’t want to be too adventurous, yet they do want to have fun. The safe part of their trip is London, since they speak English. The adventure is Paris where obviously most people speak French. So our family decides to spend a week in London, and a week in Paris during their children’s Spring Vacation which occurs in April, since that’s outside the peak travel time.

Another scenario could be two retired couples who decide to travel to Europe together. They’ve been there before and know their way around a bit. This group decides to fly to Paris, stay for a couple of days to see the sights and look up old friends, and then take a fast train down to the Mediterranean coast. There they’ll stay in Montpelier for a short visit before taking a cruise to the Greek Islands. Whether they opt for a luxury cruise or not, they will have a wonderful time at a very economical rate.

So you see, planning an European vacation is almost as much of a challenge as the vacation itself!

    Rich Boulter asked:

Barcelona is undoubtedly a beautiful and exciting city to be in. I lived and worked there for some time and would thoroughly recommend it as a place that you have to visit if you get the opportunity.

All major cities have their bad sides, and Barcelona is no exception. There are pickpockets, con artists, bag snatchers, and others who target the tourist.

So I have compiled a list of TEN potential dangers that you should be aware of.

    1) The first tip is probably the most important.

Avoid advertising the fact that you are a tourist.

Standing in the middle of the street, looking lost, with a large map held up in the air is like sending out a beacon to Mr. Pick and Pocket that you are a walking ATM waiting to be emptied!

Taking some minor precautions will prevent you from putting yourself in unnecessary situations.

I would suggest that you do not dress chez touriste! Notice what the locals are wearing and blend in as much as possible. I am not saying go out and buy a whole new Catalan wardrobe, but do avoid looking like a tourist as much as possible.

If you need to refer to a map, then simply step into a shop, bank, or café and take the map out there. Do not wave it around in the street like a matador with his red cape!

    2) Always be mindful of your belongings and where they are.

Pickpockets are there, they work in groups, and they are quick.

I always carry a ‘secondary’ wallet when traveling. Leave all your essentials back at the hotel, locked in the room safe. When you go out during the day, or for a meal at night, put only the amount of cash you think you will need into a ‘secondary’ cheap wallet, or purse. That way if it does get stolen you haven’t lost everything. Also, do not carry your wallet in your back pocket. Put it in the front pocket, which is deeper and much easier to keep an eye on.

If you are carrying a bag, rucksack, or handbag do not have it on your back or over your shoulder.

Carry the rucksack facing to the front, and the handbag under your arm. This especially applies when you are standing in the metro or walking down Las Ramblas. I have seen thieves walk behind you, unzip a pocket of a rucksack and take what they can get. Usually you don’t even notice until the next time you need something from your bag. They are that good! They will also cut the straps of your handbag and snatch it from you. Less subtle but more effective!

    3) Sitting outside for a meal, or a drink, be aware that you may be approached by people selling something, or just asking for money. Do not leave your bag where it can be easily snatched or tampered with. Do not leave anything valuable like a camera or wallet sitting on the table. Unless of course you do not want it anymore!

A friend of mine fell victim to someone who was going from table to table selling postcards. The cards she had showed him she laid over his wallet which he had foolishly left sitting on the table. When she picked up her postcards to leave she simply picked up the wallet that was under them.

    4) If you do find yourself alone at night walking back to your hotel, stick to the main streets that are well lit. Do not attempt a shorter route down the darker side alleys.

    5) The metro is a targeted area by pickpockets. Here they operate in pairs or more.

One particular maneuver to be wary of is played out as you step on and off the metro. One of the thieves will be in front of you as you step on to the train and one behind you. The one in front will bend over right in front of you and block you from moving further on to the carriage. He reaches back and grabs at your ankles or legs. You will then try to beat his hands away, and as you bend over to do this his accomplice behind you will lift your wallet from your pocket. Then just as the carriage doors shut they jump off the train onto the platform, leaving you stranded on the train, unable to catch them.

    6) Another scam involves someone approaching you and explaining that a passing bird has just left it’s business down your back! They then offer to help you clean it off and suggest you take off your jacket. He pretends to wipe off the offending mess and while he does this he is lifting your wallet from your jacket! This really does happen!

    7) A scam that you will see being played out regularly on Las Ramblas is the one that involves a guy, three cups, and a pea.

This particular ‘play’ is as old as the hills and is used the world-over by con artists so if you do fall for this one then you do not deserve any sympathy!

The main player will be asking people to bet money on the location of the pea as he moves the cups around a makeshift table. You follow his ‘magic’ hands closely and amazingly manage to pick the cup that the pea is hiding under, every single time.

The people around you are betting, some winning, and some losing. They encourage you to try your luck and you may well succeed with your first small bet. BUT as soon as the stakes get larger YOU WILL LOSE! The people around you are also in on the scam, making a commotion to attract someone gullible enough to try their luck. They are not making real bets. DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME. YOU WILL LOSE EVERY TIME.

    8) Be cautious of anyone asking for a light for a cigarette. It is safer to just say no.

A potential thief is looking for a way to start some kind of interaction. They ask you where you are from, steer the conversation on to the subject of football and before you know it they are demonstrating a Barcelona team ‘celebration’ out on you. This involves bodily contact along the lines of high-spirited high-fives, hugging, and ultimately, wallet lifting!

    9) An area to be aware of which shows the seedier side of Barcelona is the southern end of Las Ramblas, near the monument of Christopher Columbus. At night, and the early hours of the morning this area is populated with prostitutes and drug pushers.

    10) When you are relaxing on the beach, again be mindful of your belongings. If you have headphones on, fall asleep, or go for a swim in the water, your possessions become increasingly vulnerable. Thieves will watch out for these kinds of situations and take the opportunity if it presents itself to help themselves.

So there you have ten great tips to bear in mind if you are considering a visit to one of Europe’s most beautiful and exciting cities. It is by no means my intention to scare you into thinking Barcelona is a dangerous place.

    Because it isn’t.

It does however, like all major cities, have its negative aspects, which I hope to have drawn your attention to. It is my intention to forewarn you against possible dangers that do exist. And with this information I hope your time in Barcelona is free of any travel horror stories.

    Denny Phillips asked:

Taking a vacation is a wonderful experience, whether you go to a beach location, a theme park, have a camping holiday, or travel to Europe on a sightseeing tour. But when you return home, the pictures you took on your trip are a large part of the memory experience. These pictures are priceless and it is worth learning a few tips to make your picture-taking memories more rewarding.

When packing for your memorable vacation, keep in mind these things:

    • Camera, batteries + extras, memory card(s), battery chargers

    • External flash (if needed), tripod, portable storage device

    • Power adapter (if traveling abroad)

    • Camera case—waterproof if going to a beach or wet vacation spot (you can also purchase silica gel packs from your camera store to reduce moisture further)

    • Underwater camera if traveling to a beach location (even a small disposable one will get those unforgettable shots!)

    • Be sure to get a wrist-strap for your camera—you don’t want to lose your camera when you are traversing the rainforest treetops!

Be sure to charge your camera batteries before you leave home, and clear your memory card. It is always a good idea to take an extra memory card with you. Don’t be afraid to shoot lots of pictures of the same subject – a digital camera can hold a lot of pictures and you can sort out the good from the bad before printing them when you get home.

Before you leave home, do a little research on the spot you are traveling to and try to pre-plan some of the shots you may wish to take. Use travel guides, books and magazines to help plan what you may wish to include in your memory album. This may also be helpful not only in planning what type of shot you may wish to take, but may affect when you travel to a certain location. Would you like a shot of the sun rising majestically over the Rocky Mountains? Or how about a shot of elephant feeding time at the San Diego Zoo—or even fireworks over the Eiffel Tower? Make a list of these potential shots and plan your trip accordingly.

    PROVE YOU WERE THERE:

When you are taking pictures on your vacation, be sure to remember to include the human element. You don’t want only pictures of the scenery, but this should be a memory experience at the same time. Include pictures of your family and friends, even people you meet at the location. All of these elements ad to the ambiance of the experience.

Try to get at least some pictures with you in it. There is always some passerby around to take a picture of you in front of your cruise ship—just be sure it is someone trustworthy not to run off with your camera. Another good idea for this is to give the passerby a cheap disposable camera instead of your expensive one so that if he does drop the camera or runs off with it you won’t have much to lose. You may not get as good a picture quality, but at least it will be a memory shot.

TIPS ON INCLUDING PEOPLE IN YOUR VACATION PHOTOS:

    • Capture the anticipation of your trip by using people. Try photos of packing up the car, arriving at the airport, getting on the plane. This type of picture will lend a great story line when displaying your pictures in an album. The same goes for the end of your trip. Have a shot of your wife sleeping on the plane after a whirlwind European vacation. Personally, I always end our albums with a display of all the things we acquired on our trip—everything from that gorgeous purse I bought in Panama, shells from the beach, to the airline tickets and the Spanish phrase book we used.

    • Place your subject off-centre using the rule of thirds. Divide the picture into a tic-tac-toe like grid and rather than placing your subject into the centre square, place them onto one of four lines. This makes for a more interesting picture and is more aesthetically pleasing. A great portrait would be placing a person to one side with the horizon filling the rest of the picture.

    • Try to get the people in your pictures to tell a story rather than just standing in front of a landmark. Eating, leaning on street signs, browsing through roadside markets, swimming on the beach are all ways to achieve this.

    • Don’t have your subjects stand so far away that you can’t recognize who they are. Get them to stand closer and have the landmark in the distance. You can always take an extra shot of the landmark by itself.

    • Sometimes it is good to get a photo of someone in the distance, perhaps with their back to the camera. This comes off as a candid shot and can create great drama in the picture.

    • Try to get some action shots. Try taking a candid shot of kids or adults playing on the beach. Or capture someone’s face when tasting that chocolate covered ant. Use the Action Shooting Mode on your camera for a fast shutter speed to stop action so that you can get clear pictures without the blur. The Burst Mode lets you take multiple pictures with one click of the shutter button to catch a sequence of moves—for that Mexican dancing scene.

    LANDSCAPE TIPS

    • Study the area and plan your photograph. Would the picture be better if taken from the right to include the shadows? How about a different angle? You can crouch or take a photo looking up at the Eiffel Tower instead of straight on—wouldn’t that seem more dramatic? Use perspective to your advantage.

    • Think about the distance you are away from your subject. Try to get as close as possible. Sometimes that house in the distance that you like will just be a spot in a 4X6 picture. Use your zoom as much as possible.

    • Consider the lighting. The light can be harsh in the middle of the day and less intense in the early morning or late afternoon. Also you can achieve better results with lighting by taking pictures in inclement weather. Experiment by taking pictures at different times of the day. Even the shadows created in a landscape by taking advantage of the early morning light can be interesting and dramatic. Another lighting tip is to use you camera’s flash when shooting in direct sun to reduce effects of shadows on faces or other objects in the picture. If you happen to be in low light, try using a tripod. And experiment…is the light shining in the back or on the side? The placement of light and shadows in a picture can create a great shot.

    • If you are taking a picture of a landscape, make sure there are no stray objects that may detract from your composition. Check before you shoot.

    • Use colour to your advantage. You can often achieve very dramatic shots of colourful houses, fall foliage or azure beaches to add vibrancy to your photos. If you have a Beach Mode on your camera, use it to capture bright seaside scenes.

    • Take advantage of the landscape mode in your camera, which adjusts the aperture so that objects near and far are sharp and clear. To achieve the same effect manually, you need to set your aperture to a high f-number (like f6.3), which will provide a wide range of focus to ensure everything near and in the distance is in focus.

    • Panorama shots are very popular and some cameras offer in-camera panorama-stitching which is a feature that uses up to five single shots to create one seamless image right in the camera. Sweeping beach scenes are perfect for the Panorama mode. Tips for panoramic shots: (1) make sure your camera is as level as possible, (2) be sure to stand in the same position for all the shots, (3) overlap you images by 30-50% horizontally. Consider using panoramic shots for breathtaking mountain range shots, sunsets, cityscapes, or even a cascading waterfall.

    • Use the Sunset Mode on your camera to achieve ideal dramatic photos of early evening or dawn when the sun in near the horizon. Image that perfect beach with the sun setting in the background.

SNOW OR BLACK AND WHITE SHOTS:

    • The key to capturing magical winter shots is in the white balance. To achieve realistic winter scenes, some cameras have a Snow Shooting Mode which will automatically adjust the camera’s white balance to compensate for the snow and lighting conditions. You can also use your camera’s manual controls to adjust the white balance until the snow colour is correct. The image will change on your camera’s screen so you can adjust it up or down until the image appears accurate.

    • Black and white pictures accentuate lines, textures and edges making great dramatic photographs. This can be a great choice for beach scenes and coastlines alike.

    VACATION PHOTO ART:

    • You can turn your vacation photographs into works of art using computer software to manipulate the pictures. If you have an artistic nature this is a great way to display your vacation photographs and receive rave reviews from family and friends.

Another tip on vacation photography is not just to take pictures of landmarks and people. Pictures of birds, flowers, and street signs all add to remembering where you visited.

I hope some of the above tips help in your vacation photography. At home, I love reviewing our photographs and reliving our travel experiences. We always take lots of pictures and share them often with family and friends.

If you have always been wishing for a European holiday but baulked at the cost and given up the idea, you want to look no further. Here’s a grand idea to make a low priced European vacation experience. You can select from any of the exotic Mediterranean countries of Europe enjoy their wines, sunbathe on their pristine sea beaches, partake of their immense adventure sporting options, live on their snow clad hilltops or simply relax yourself in one of the villas in the sylvan countryside. You can select from France, Spain, Austria, Italy and some other countries in the Mediterranean and have a very memorable holiday there. With Travel Horizon, you can get your cheap European vacation quite easily.

Travel Horizon claims to give as much as 30% discounts on some of its greatest packages. And most of these discounts are really 30% off, and not just like the claims some of the other websites we know make. For this website has a lot of affiliations and associations with hotels all around the world, it becomes possible for it to negotiate deals with them. Also, the hotels themselves provide their packages at great reduction rates for promotion through this very popular website.

So, as the site itself says, you won’t need to rob a bank in order to get your huge European holiday. Just as an example, a fourteen day holiday in a silent villa in Aquitaine in France would price just around 270 euros, which does not come to even 20 euros per day. If you compare this with some of the other quotes going around the Internet, you will clearly know why this is one of the best prices available. Of course the price would depend on the caliber and reputation of the accommodation, but even so, these prices are much low than the prevailing market prices available from other tourist websites.

Then, TravelHorizon also has some of the world’s best short break vacations, which are of course in the European countries. There are packages where you can fly to your European holiday destination, have a nice time out there and then return on Sunday evening just so that you can begin work on Monday. Such short break vacations are specialties of the website, and they are often given at low discounted prices.

With all such offers for the taking, Travel Horizon doubtlessly qualifies as one of the most efficient and the cheapest travel planning website from around the world. That makes it all the more reason for you to log on to travel horizon before you plan your next vacation move.

Adventure tours offer a level of excitement and exploration quite different from an ordinary vacation. This type of vacation typically involves a well planned out tour of not just one city or vacation destination, but several. Also, an adventure tour highlights cultural and historical sites and can involve at least some level of physical exertion; everything from coping with off road exploration to rafting and climbing. There are few continents on Earth which are more fascinating and diverse than Europe. For this reason, among others, there are few locations which are better to experience an adventure tour on than in Europe. Considering the amount of history which took place between European nations, there is much to be discovered. Also, the fact that Europe is comprised of incredible landscapes which are as distinct as the peoples who occupy them, a European adventure tour is truly an unforgettable experience.

An adventure tour on the European continent allows you to walk the very lands where so many of the adventures in ancient stories took place. If you are looking for an experience that will provide you with fond memories for years to come, you might want to consider some of the following tour destinations.

    Scotland

Many people have a love affair with Scottish culture and history, so Scotland can be a wonderful destination for an adventure tour. When touring Scotland you can walk the highlands and the lowlands like the Scots of old, either camping in the wild or staying at a different Scottish inn each night. For those wishing to get in touch with Scottish culture, a Scottish adventure tour can be a dream come true.

    France

If you don’t want to visit Scotland, France might be a better option. You might consider hiking the Haute Route, a mountaineering route that was designed to link Chamonix and Zermatt (which are two of the most well-known and beloved mountaineering areas in all of Europe.) You might also wish to go canoeing on the rivers of southwestern France, moving along rivers bathed in history as you can see castles and other historical sites from your seat in the canoe. There are tours that will take you through the Christmas markets of France, as well as the breathtaking cities of Paris, Lyon and Nice.

    Italy and the Netherlands

If canoeing and hiking is not exactly what you’re looking for, consider taking a bike tour of Italy or the Netherlands. Both of these countries have centuries of history and culture for you to take in while enjoying the freedom of biking under your own power. Adventure tours are designed to take you through beautiful and culturally-important regions of the country, and are generally arranged so that you will have luxurious lodging each night to help you relax from the rigors of riding all day. Bike tours allow you to cover more ground each day than hiking tours do, so you will generally get to see more of the country as you continue your tour.

    England and Ireland

If you are planning on visiting England, you might consider taking one of the hiking tours along Hadrian’s Wall. This wall stretches across the Pennines and is considered one of the feats of Roman engineering. By taking a tour along the wall you will be able to marvel at the length of it as you consider that it was built by hand… all while enjoying the beauty of the hillsides of northern England. Similar tours can also be taken in Ireland, where you can see the old rock walls that in many places are still maintained by the descendants of those who built them.

    Greece

Should you want an adventure tour that doesn’t involve quite as much hiking, head to Greece or other locations in the Mediterranean where cruises are offered to let you experience the historic coastlines that helped to shape so much of Europe’s civilization. Unlike cruise lines which have you cruising on massive luxury ships, many of the Greek and Mediterranean cruises use smaller ships built in a more classic style so that you will know the feel of those ancient ships while learning about the culture that surrounded them. Adventure tours taken in this area can include visits some of the most beautiful islands and ancient locations in the world, such as Mykonos, Kusadasi, Patmos, Rhodes, Heraklion and Santorini.

    European Adventure Tours by Train

Other popular European tour options involve tours by train. Most of Europe is connected by a railway system, and with a EuroPass you can take a train easily from one country to the next so as to enjoy the cultural and historical significance of each. You can visit the vineyards of France, the castles of Germany, and the markets of Italy with nothing but a train ride in between. Tours which are centered around train transport generally include your EuroPass in the price of the tour package.

Regardless of the type of adventure tour that you want to take, make sure that you spend a little time exploring the offerings of different tour coordinators so that you can find exactly the tour package that’s right for you. In addition to getting ideas for additional things that you would like to do while in Europe, you may be able to save money on the adventure tour that you take as well.

Every year an estimated 15 million Americans visit Europe, and if you do visit some of the continent’s most popular destinations – London, Paris, Rome and Venice – they can seem rather overcrowded. However, this fascinating continent does boast some little known destinations for those who wish to venture off the beaten track. A little investigating can go a long way when embarking on a trip such as a vacation to Europe. The following information includes some suggestions, although many more can be made by doing your own fact-finding. Experiencing a little known destination is romantic and memorable.

France is one of Europe’s most visited countries; and if you have already seen Paris and the Cote d’Azur, the country still offers some relatively unknown areas. The Quercy and Lot regions offer visitors plenty of historic towns, beautiful scenery and a wealth of outdoor activities. However, these areas are among the least visited parts of France. Also, the beaches of France may be world famous, but there are still miles of coast just north of the Spanish border, that are not yet affected by mass tourism.

Another country which attracts millions of visitors every year is Spain; most tourists concentrate on Madrid, Barcelona and the country’s beaches. But Spain has several regions which are relatively undiscovered, including Asturias, an area tucked away in the north of Spain. Asturias offers visitors some of Europe’s most dramatic coastal scenery, fascinating prehistoric cave paintings; and a wide variety of outdoor activities in the picturesque Los Picos de Europa Mountains.

Tuscany is anything but undiscovered, but if you take the time to get off the beaten track, you can still find many beautiful and unspoiled hill towns that haven’t yet been overrun by tourists – Pitigliano, Sovana and Massa Marittima. Italy’s Amalfi coast can feel crowded too, but hidden away is the town of Atrani, a relative oasis of calm amidst the bustle of the larger resorts. And if you really want to experience Italy without the crowds, visit Apulia, the region in the heel of Italy’s boot – a highlight here is the town of Lecce, often described as the “Florence of the south”.

Prague is a beautiful city and has justifiably become one of the most popular cities in Europe, attracting around 20 million visitors annually. However, many visitors to the Czech Republic don’t venture outside Prague, which is a shame as they will discover a fascinating country – historic towns, spectacular countryside and in many areas, a way of life that hasn’t changed for centuries. The region of Moravia still clings to many of its old traditions; it’s also a great place to taste authentic goulash.

Three countries tucked away in the northeastern part of Europe appeal to those who are looking for something different – Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. All three of these small countries offer beautiful countryside, historic towns and cities, a distinctive culture and unique traditions – and all three declared their independence from Russia as recently as 1990. These Baltic States are increasingly popular destinations for UK travelers, but are still a mystery to many Americans.

Most people could not locate the tiny European country of Slovenia on a map; it’s one of the few countries left in Europe that is still virtually unheard of. Visit before Slovenia is discovered, as this country – half the size of Switzerland – boasts dramatic mountain scenery, fairy tale castles and spectacular underground caverns. Its capital, Ljubljana is just as attractive as Prague, Vienna or Budapest. It’s also one of the safest and most stable of the countries that comprise the former Yugoslavia.

Another country that most people don’t know too much about is Luxembourg. This small country is tucked away between Belgium, Germany and France and offers a variety of sightseeing options. In the south of the country is the beautiful wooded Ardennes region; and the country’s capital boasts picturesque medieval houses, narrow cobblestone streets and cozy cafes. The country also offers plenty of places to enjoy fine dining - Luxembourg boasts more Michelin star restaurants per capita than any other country in the world.

Some of Europe’s beaches are legendary, but the continent still has plenty of beaches where you can perhaps be the only tourist for several miles. The Adriatic coast, especially Croatia, boasts many miles of undiscovered beaches – and this area is safer than most people think. Italy’s Cinque Terre region is well known, but not far from the touristy towns are small beaches known only to the locals. In fact, many small beaches in Europe are accessible only from the water; and an enterprising boat owner will usually take you there for a small fee.

One other tip is to try to visit some of Europe’s more popular destinations in the off season. You won’t have the crowds, and you may not have the best weather - but you may just enjoy your trip that much more.

A visit to the “Old World” is something many people dream about. Not everyone gets to live that dream but for many a European vacation can become a reality. There is a lot of plans that have to be made but being patient and thorough will pay off in the long run. After all the accommodations and sight seeing tours have been planned the next step is finding a cheap air fare to get you there.

If you have a travel agent you use often this can be a good place to start the search for savings on your airline tickets. Travel agents have the inside information on all sorts of travel discounts and when the best time to travel is if you want to save money. What you are really looking for is a discount package that airlines offer from time to time. Travel agents are your best bet for finding these packages and if you can get one that coincides with your travel dates it is a good idea to go ahead and make the reservation because chances are you will not find a better deal.

Another way to hunt down cheap air fare to Europe if you are not using a travel agent is to contact the airlines themselves. By checking with several airlines you can compare prices for the dates you wish to travel. One thing that can help save money is being flexible with your travel dates because most airlines offer discounts for traveling during certain times of the month and even at certain times. When you do find a good price make that reservation because airlines are notorious for changing their prices the next day.

If you’re lucky enough to have frequent flier miles either through the airline or with a rewards credit card then you can use these to get large discounts or even free plane tickets. You may also be able to accumulate additional miles during your trip depending on the terms of service of the airlines. If nothing else you can cash in what miles you do have and save several hundred dollars on your European trip.

Cheap air fare to Europe can be found but it may take some time and patience on your part. But if saving money on your plane ticket is an important part of your travel plans then a little time and patience is well worth the effort.

When it comes to skiing and winter sports, Europe has more than its fair share of amazing resorts.  From the greatly priced, to the more than reasonable, Europe has it all, and has so much to offer any skier.  If you’ve never been to Europe on a skiing holiday, or if you’re looking to expand your experience, you’ll find something that catches your eye without too much research, and you might just end up joining the legions of skiing fans that wouldn’t go anywhere else in the world for their vacation.

On mainland Europe, you have such a varied selection.  From the world famous French skiing resorts to Austria, Switzerland and the tiny principality of Andorra, you’ve got such a wide range of skiing to choose from.  France is known the world over as the true home of skiing, and the French really know how to do a quality vacation.  With naturally amazing resources, and scenery that can take your breath away, France is an ideal location for a skiing trip.  Why not try the Courchevel resort, which has four different ski resorts within one, providing the perfect blend of quality and affordability in a skiing trip.  From the grossly overpriced 1850 resort, the playground of Europe’s film stars and playboys, to the seemingly remote 1350 at the bottom of the hill, you have so much to choose from in Europe’s finest skiing country.  With the kids or with your friends, France is truly a destination that will make for a memorable skiing vacation.

Or how about some of the Italian resorts?  Italy, famous for being the cheaper way to ski, also benefits from a diverse range of resorts, like the tiny Alba resort, as well as some larger, more sizeable areas to ski.  Famous for passion and a depth of culture, Italy is the ideal place to take a skiing break in Europe, and the weather’s good too!  Or how about Italy’s neighbor, Croatia?  A rising European nation, you’ll find a Croatian holiday outrageously good value for money, not to mention top quality.  From the international standard ski resorts to their world class restaurants, Croatia is certainly a country on the up, and its skiing facilities can only improve as more and more tourists flock to their slopes each year.  Additionally, Bulgaria is an excellent skiing destination to take the kids.  With open arms, you will be welcomed by the Bulgarian people, who are more than eager to tell you about their rich and deep past, and welcome you as part of their future.  In these expanding and developing European nations, you will come to appreciate the value of tourism, and the quality of treatment and service they are prepared to offer for your investment.

How about Austria for your skiing trip?  When we think of skiing, we often imagine the Alpine ideal, with breathtaking scenery and fresh, clean air.  Well, it simply doesn’t come much better than Austria, and if you’re looking for a skiing destination that has it all, why not try Austria for that touch of class with your skiing.  Or why not pop over to Switzerland for their Alps experience?  Skiing the alps in the home of chocolate and cuckoo clocks, you will be amazed at how picturesque this modern nation has managed to be, whilst still becoming a world leader in financial industry.

Skiing in Europe is the ideal way to spend your vacation.  If you love skiing, you are guaranteed to find a great resort somewhere, within your budget that meets your needs, and caters for your ability.  With most resorts also boasting strong training academies, you can also work to improve your skills while you are there, ensuring that your skiing trip is both useful and memorable.  Whatever you are looking for, choose Europe as your number one skiing destination, for that perfect blend of quality, tradition and culture, and for a holiday that is truly breathtaking.

Going to Europe on a vacation is something that is very exciting and should be a great deal of fun. It is important to understand that there are many things to plan when you are taking a European vacation. Planning a European vacation could bring a great deal of stress into your life; you will just have to learn to take it step by step.

Travelling to Europe is not as simple as traveling to New York or Los Angeles. Vacationing in Europe may mean traveling through different countries and staying in places where you might not speak the native language. You will also need to learn how to utilize the different types of transportation in order to get where you are going. An online travel agency could be a big help when you are planning your trip.

Using an online travel agency could be a very easy and stress free way to plan your trip. You want to be sure that you focus your time and energy into making it the best trip possible, because you may not return to Europe again for some time. Take these tips into consideration when it comes to using an online travel agency to plan your European vacation.

First, narrow down the countries you wish to travel to, keeping in mind that you will want to see as much as you can during the time that you are gone. The best way to decide on which countries you should visit would be to break down the amount of time you have for your European vacation.

If you only have a week, one or possibly two countries are probably all that you will have time for. The more time that you have for your travels, better the chance of seeing multiple European countries, each chock full of spectacular sights and delicious local food. If you have two weeks as opposed to one week, then you should easily be able to see three, four or even five countries.

Once you know how many countries you will be able to visit, use the online travel agency to choose which ones you really want to see, and spend the most time exploring. Remember that travel time is going to be counted as part of your trip, so choose a route that is easy to follow. For instance, going from London to Paris will take up an entire day, but going from France to Germany can be done quite quickly. Look at the suggestions you can find with the online travel agency for which countries are good to visit in succession, this will help you plan a vacation that will run much smoother.

It is often a good idea to arrive in a certain country and depart for home from another country. During the vacation you will make your way from the country in which you landed to the country in which you need to be in order to fly home. This can save you an entire day of traveling, and can allow you to see more sights along your journey. When you are purchasing through an online travel agency, they’ll have access to the best flight deals when it comes to going from one country to another during your travels.

Next, you’ll want to scour the online travel agency for the best deals. There are going to be plenty of good deals, but it might take some time to find the best ones. Remember that when the online travel agency offers you package deals, such as airfare and hotels, you do want to at least consider these deals. You also might want to break them apart and see if you can get better deals buying separately from the travel agency. The reason for this is that sometimes the package deals will have things in them that you don’t really need, such as a car rental or tickets to a theme park that you don’t plan on visiting. Before you accept a package deal, make sure that the prices add up to savings for you, and that you are exploring all of the options, including buying each of the items separately.

Lastly, remember that online travel agencies are often going to have the best last minute deals. This means that if you book your trip closer to when you want to take it, you might be able to get better deals. If you can plan a trip with flexible dates, you’ll also be more likely to save some money. Online travel agencies often can get great deals with a small amount of tweaking when it comes to the various dates on which you would like to travel.

Using an online travel agency can be a lifesaver for you when you are booking a European vacation. You will be able to find the best deals, save the most money and get the vacation of your dreams!

If you are like me and have tried to buy an all inclusive cheap Caribbean vacation between Christmas and Easter, and totally failed to gat any kind of a bargain, you will have realised that this is high season. It was many years ago that I checked out both Jumby Bay and Sandy Lane, and I noticed a dramatic drop in prices that began in May. I was able to get an incredible bargain to Jumby which I couldn’t frankly believe.

The whole matter of finding the best time for Caribbean Cheap Deals is well worth investigating. Not being a celebrity or someone who needs to be seen, all of us ordinary mortals do not need to be in Barbados between December and Easter. The main reason it is high season of course is the awful European weather at that time of year, and not necessarily the weather in the Caribbean. Also places like Antigua and Barbados are quickly accessible from Europe. The jet set pushes prices up by their demands on hotels and restaurants, which in turn increases prices even more.

On principle don’t go there at that time.

Come May the prices drop dramatically as already discussed, and one of the main reasons for this is the beginning of the tourist season in Europe, and the southern United States. It isn’t as you might have thought because of the onset of the hurricane season, which is later on in July and August.

A lot of people are starting to go in July and August, which has risk attached to it, but there is a theory that the southern islands like Barbados, Tobago and Grenada are too far south to be in the hurricane belt, but Grenada disproved that two years ago. If you want a Caribbean Cheap Deal at this time, you will get one, but beware.

Take a look at some caribbean options at http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com/categories/Caribbean-Hotel-Hideaways/

The best time to go to the Caribbean for an all inclusive cheap Caribbean vacation or any kind of Caribbean Cheap Deal is May or June. The weather is quite beautiful, and there are no children, as it is term time!!

Go to the Caribbean in May June, for the best prices, when you will be astonished at some of the deals on offer.
